Sammy's Spring Break Visit

We have so enjoyed having Sammy here for his spring break! He flew out last Sunday and is heading back home tomorrow morning. We will be sad to see him go, but we are so glad he was able to come! We have done a lot of fun stuff while he's been here. We have also done a lot of just hanging out at home and playing games and such. I think it was a well balanced week :)

On Monday we spent most of the day just hanging out. We went and spent some time at Barnes and Noble and stopped by Babies'R'Us so we could show Gramma and Grampa and Sammy some of the fun stuff we are looking at for the baby. Oh and it being Sammy's first day here we of course lunched at a Teryaki restaraunt. Teryaki is definatley one of his favorite foods. Then we celebrated my birthday with a fun evening at The Cheesecake Factory (as described in the post below).

Tuesday We mostly hung around the house and played games, watched a movie, plus spent a little time at Alderwood Mall.

Wednesday was a lot of fun! We headed over to Mukilteo and took a peak at one of the houses we used to live in, had Ivar's for lunch and then hopped on the ferry and headed to Whidbey Island. While on Whidbey we went and checked out Ft. Casey, since Sammy had never been thre before. It was a little cloudy and windy, but still a beautiful day. We checked out the dark insides of the fort as well as a lot of the look-outs and the towers. There are also old battery guns on display and a lot of really good ocean and mountain views from the fort. After that we stopped at a little coffe shop for a drink to warm ourselves up a bit :) Then we headed down the Island towards Deception Pass. On the way we stopped at a senic beach. Once at Deception Pass, we got out and walked around. The boys took some trails leading down to the water but never made it all the way. Finally we crossed the bridge and headed on our way home. We ended up dropping Sammy of to stay overnight with a friend in Stanwood.

On Thursday we picked Sammy up by the Mall around 4:30 and then headed home to make some buffalo wings and cream cheese wontons (which we also added buffalo sauce to!) Then we followed dinner up with a few board games and an evening of TV watching.

Today, Friday, we slept in and took our time getting ready. We ate breakfast at about 10:30. We made french toast, hash browns and sausage... boy was it yummy! The boys then played a rousing game of Age of Empires on the 100-inch screen in the basement and maybe another video game or two ;) Then we had a late lunch of... you guessed it, Teryaki. It being Sammy's last day here, it was only fitting! Afterwards, we made our way over to Juanita beach and went for a little walk. It was sunny when we got there and we saw a guy kite surfing in the water, as the time passed, the clouds came rolling in and it started raining as we were leaving. It was fun, though. It was actually quite beautiful watching the clouds come in. Today the weather has been very up and down. Sunny then cloudy then rainy and then sunny again! Now it is back to cloudy. Tonight Dan and Celeste are coming over for dinner. We are having Jambalya and then playing board games with them. Then before bed, Matt and Sammy plan to watch the series finally of Battlestar Galactica.

Before we know it it will be tomorrow morning and we'll be driving him back to the airport, but for now we are going to have a fabulous evening! Thanks Mom and Dad for giving Sammy plane tickets to see us as his birthday gift! It ended up being a birthday gift for me as well!!
